Show Notes
- The show is at Caveat on the Lower East Side, a venue we love
- Tickets are already available for both in-person and live streaming/video-on-demand. The audio will be posted in the feed after the event.
Billy: Hey everyone.
Adrianne: Hello.
John: Hello.
Billy: So people may have noticed we’ve been gone for a couple of weeks.
Adrianne: Has it been a couple weeks?
John: It’s been like a month actually. Yeah.
Adrianne: Well, we had a good run.
Billy: Yeah. Sorry. It’s over. Another podcast you love. Killed Dead.
Adrianne: No, it’s not dead.
Billy: Yeah, we’re not dead.
Adrianne: Yeah. But that was a, that was a good sprint.
I think we challenged ourselves to go weekly, and we did it for longer than we have in previous runs.
John: It was, it was 14 episodes over 15 weeks, so we only missed one week.
Adrianne: We challenged ourselves to do weekly. We did that for a while. We have now burned out. We also have a bunch of, Major life things happening. Personal news that’s mine to share. I am expecting another child soon.
Billy: Yay.
Adrianne: And John. And John, also personal news, that’s not mine to share.
John: I’m getting married in July.
Billy: Yay.
Adrianne: Yay.
Billy: I’m overdue to go to the dentist. I should probably figure that out if I have a little extra time.
Adrianne: Well, we also still have this excuse that has been true since the beginning of the podcast, which is that we do it in our spare time. We all have full-time jobs, so it’s just been a lot to balance. However, we have a plan.
Billy: Yes.
Adrianne: And the plan is, we’re gonna take a break for the summer. We’re gonna finish up some episodes that have been in production for a minute. And we also are presenting our very first in-person live show in New York City.
John: And we’re definitely not terrified about this.
Billy: I’m not terrified. I mean, Adrianne said she hasn’t handled. Adrianne is the story lead for it. And she’s like, I got it.
Adrianne: And I got it. We all got it.
John: So the show is on August 1st. At a venue we love called Caveat in Manhattan, that’s New York City, it’s at 7:00 PM tickets are $25.
Or if you are a patron, you can get $5 off. Look for a code in Patreon. Also. This is exciting. The show will be live streamed and available as video on demand for a short time after the show. So if you are not in the New York area, can’t come to out to the live show, you can still stream the show.
That ticket is $10. Patrons, look for a code that can get you $3 off of the internet stream and video on demand.
All the details about the show and how to get tickets for both the in-person and live streams are available at our website, underunderstood.com/podcast/live. And that’ll link you out to get tickets.
And we’ll also, of course, put links in the show notes of this episode.
Billy: Adrianne, just to clarify, how pregnant will you be when this live show is happening?
John: Oh yeah.
Adrianne: Like maximum, maximum pregnant, pretty much.
Billy: And I just wanna make clear to the audience, I have no idea what we’re doing for the live show has been kept a secret from me because Adrianne is leading it. Statistically, she could have a baby.
John: Oh and not be available for the show you mean?
Billy: Yeah.
Adrianne: it’ll be fine.
John: And as for the main podcast, the feed that you’re listening to right now, like Adrianne said, we’re gonna bank. A bunch of episodes and the plan is to come back, after a much shorter break than the last one that we took, which was like nine or 10 months.
Now we’re gonna come back with new episodes on the main feed at the end of the summer.
Adrianne: Yeah. And in the meantime, are we still doing our monthly virtual show in Discord for Patreon supporters?
John: You betcha. We are.
Billy: Of course, we, yeah, we’re doing our normal thing in Patreon. Patreon never sleeps.
John: You know, I have a feeling I will wind up, or, or maybe, Ryan will wind up doing, extra stuff in Patreon in the break.
Billy: Yeah. I wanna get a little funky in there. Summer Fridays. I don’t know what that means.
John: Ooh, summer. Are Fridays in Patreon? I like, I don’t, yeah. I dunno know. That is, I dunno what that contains. Yeah, stay tuned. That’s good. Might be some little things on Fridays, so sometimes it might just be a Hai coup. Who knows?
Adrianne: I like how you just made this up on the spot and now I feel like we’re committed to it and I dunno what it is.
Billy: Listen,
Adrianne: But it sounds fun.
John: Mm-hmm.
Adrianne: Great. So I think that’s all the updates and we’re excited to come back.
John: I feel like we haven’t well captured like, how fun and exciting it was to be back for a 14-week streak of this. Like we, we said that we were burned out, but like, it was also-
Adrianne: It was great!
John: Yeah. I, I feel, I was gonna say more alive when the show is on, but-
Billy: I’m always cautious to use the word burned out. Cuz like for me, I’m not burned out on the show. I don’t think any of us are really.
John: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Billy: It’s just we’re busy. We just have a lot of things going on and we-
Adrianne: Yeah-
Billy: This show is something we do in our spare time and so we have families and jobs and other obligations and other life things that happen and so, You know, it’s important for us that this show remains something fun and something that we love. So there’s just, you know, we have to like be smart and strategic about how, how we approach it. We don’t want it to become a burden. We always want it to be fun. We always wanna have fun with you all.
Adrianne: That is a much better and more nuanced way to put it. And I actually don’t feel burned out. I just feel, I feel like I’m always putting this stuff off, off to the side and not having time to work on it. And then that stresses me out.
John: And we also want it to be like worth your time to listen to. Like we could, we could completely change the format and make it just like talking about. I don’t know, some dumb internet stuff of the week. But that’s not our show and we’d rather be off than do that.
Billy: Yeah, we could do a whole episode where we try to figure out what television Adrianne should buy.
John: Summer Fridays, that is completely on the table, let’s be clear.
Billy: Yeah. Yeah. We may do that on Patreon for summer Fridays. If anyone this Friday wants to listen to us, pick a television for Adrian, please support us on Patreon.
Adrianne: This is gonna end like all my purchase decisions where I just buy nothing.
Billy: I mean, that’s, that’s pretty healthy. I’m not, I’m not gonna lie, Adrianne, you should just get the Apple Vision Pro because when you add up the cost of a large television, is that the-
John: And the surround sound.
Billy: And, you know, the cost of ignoring your children.
Adrianne: So you’re saying instead of getting a larger tv, I get a smaller TV and strap it to my face.
Billy: Exactly. Yeah.
Adrianne: Anyway, that was our segment about the dumb internet thing of the week, I guess.
Billy: Check out our tech podcast on Patreon.
Adrianne: But seriously, thank you so much to the listeners for liking and subscribing and doing all the things and supporting us on Patreon, and we’ll have more stuff for you, good stuff, very soon.
John: Good night and good luck.
